South Korea service provider KT is planning with ArrayComm a fourth quarter test of multi-antenna signal processing software intended to enhance KT's WiBro network capabilities.
KT currently offers WiBro service in the 2.3 GHz band to about 500 or so users in Seoul. Arraycomm's A-MAS will be used in both client devices and base stations, and in addition the the field trial later this year, signalling algorithms also will be incorporated into KT's network planning process to help the companies understand the potential coverage, client datat rate and capacity benefits the A-MAS software can offer, the companies said in a statement.
“We expect that ArrayComm’s A-MAS software will give a significant performance improvement in the WiBro system” noted JongLok Yoon, senior executive vice president at KT, in the statement. “We are interested in knowing more about the benefits for our WiBro service.” KT and ArrayComm said they have agreed to make reports on the results of their collaboration available to the industry at large over the coming year.
