VCom (Booth #73020) announces its WingMAX series of products for wireless broadband applications based on the 802.16-2004 standard. The architecture of the VCom WingMAX system utilizes highly integrated single box base stations and subscriber stations as the network elements.

Key characteristics of the system are as follows:

  • All outdoor base stations and subscriber stations 802.16-2004 OFDM-compliant PHY and MAC (WingMAX products will be submitted for certification testing by WiMAX Forum)
  • Time division duplex for maximum spectral efficiency GPS timing integrated into base station for automatic base station synchronization
  • True non line-of-sight performance
  • Interchangeable WingMAX base stations and subscriber stations
  • Power over Ethernet for convenient powering and single cable
  • VCom Power Connect audible installation assistance to facilitate customer self-install

VCom will have 3.5 GHz units ready for customer product trials and WiMAX Forum certification testing in Q3 of 2005. VCom also plans multiple configurations of this same basic platform to suit many different frequency allocations all around the world from 450 MHz to 6 GHz.
