Patapsco Communications has launched the Liberator series, a range of ISDN cross-connect multiplexers or connectivity enabling tools. Ideally suited to vendors offering products internationally, or carriers, large corporations, systems integrators and distributors/resellers, Liberators offer the ultimate in flexibility, enabling users to maximize the use of ISDN BRI and PRI circuits and allowing carriers to span the last mile. There are two systems in the Liberator series: Liberator-S and Liberator-Duo.

Liberator-S is a low-cost ISDN multiplexer that combines the functionality of an ISDN converter, switch, emulator and drop-and-insert mux with enhanced features and flexibility. Available in a variety of models offering up to 3 PRI ports and up to 16 BRI ports, the system is easily upgradeable and offers a wide range of potential applications.

Liberator-Duo expands the range by offering a two-wire 'U' as well as 'S' interfaces. The ability to drive long distances with BRIs adds a new dimension for carriers and for vendors selling into large locations such as campuses and arenas.

Potential applications for the Liberator-S and/or Liberator-Duo could include: sharing and contention between PRI and BRI channels, facilitating video conferencing, enabling or integration tool for migration to VoIP, delivery of multiple PRI, BRI and Fractional E1/T1 to sites, enabling the use of PRI gateways where only BRI is available, converting between T1 and E1, US and Euro BRIs, sharing ISDN network access between multiple local devices, delivering fractional PRIs from BRIs and least-cost routing.
