MDSI (Booth #72077) announces Mobile Inventory Management for its Advantex Enterprise Wireless Workforce Management solution. MIM automates the process for restocking vehicles by monitoring parts usage and adjusting stock counts. As technicians record the parts they use, the system keeps track of parts inventory on each truck.

MIM advises technicians and their inventory manager when their truck inventory is too low. When minimum stock levels are programmed, the system is capable of automatically submitting a parts requisition list to a central materials management system. MIM notifies the mobile user when the parts are ready to be picked up at the warehouse. Once the user notifies the system that the parts have been picked up, it immediately updates the inventory count. MIM also exchanges inventory information with material management systems and provides warehouse workers with inventory reports.

Key capabilities:

  • Monitors and controls mobile parts inventory
  • Provides electronic access to vehicle stock levels for inventory manager and mobile user
  • Enables mobile users and dispatchers to see what parts are needed to complete a job
  • Identifies vehicles that are overstocked
  • Alerts mobile users that parts are ready for pickup at the warehouse
