Amino Communications (Booth #75022) announces its AmiNET124 IPTV set-top box, its first product to support the new H.264 compression codec, also known as MPEG-4 AVC. The new compression technology uses up to 40 percent less network bandwidth. Available bandwidth varies with local loop length, and Amino therefore estimates that telcos will typically be able to increase their subscriber catchment area by 15 percent or more using existing ADSL networks--creating opportunities for significant increased revenues.

The AmiNET124 is the first MPEG-4 IPTV set-top box to make the adoption of MPEG-4 AVC commercially attractive to telcos thanks to its compatibility with most middleware and conditional access providers and cost-effective design. The compact, award-winning design is easily installed by the subscriber and features a field-upgradeable software platform to support future technology enhancements without significant additional cost to the IPTV service provider.
