Aktino’s (Booth #52077) new AK4000 product family enables service providers to deliver 5 to 50 Mb/s Ethernet services throughout the carrier serving area (CSA) over multiple pairs of copper, using copper bonding. Ideal for both business-class access applications and backhaul, the AK4000 can deliver ubiquitous 10 Mb/s Ethernet service on 4 pairs or 25 Mb/s Ethernet service on 8 pairs with a binder full of disturbers throughout the CSA (12,000 feet).

Based on the most widely deployed standard DSL technology, discrete multi-tone (DMT), and the first multi-pair Ethernet-over-copper products to utilize multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) techniques in the wireline domain, the Aktino AK4000 product family transports business-class Ethernet services throughout the CSA using only one-third to one-half as many copper loops as other bonded solutions, such as G.SHDSL and HDSLx. By implementing MIMO techniques on a DMT-based multi-pair platform, Aktino’s technology solves the cross-talk problem in copper binders. This enables its platforms to transport more bandwidth to longer distances on fewer pairs than any other currently available technology.

The first copper bonding company to develop its own multi-pair DMT transceiver, this technology development enables Aktino’s AK4000 platform to dynamically load balance traffic across all the copper loops being utilized. This advancement in technology enables the AK4000 platform to provide higher levels of quality and reliability compared to other copper-bonding solutions. Additionally, the AK4000 platform is T1.417 compliant and does not interfere with existing services such as ADSL and HDSL in the same binder group, even at long distances and high bandwidth levels. The platform is environmentally hardened for any deployment scenario and can be line powered on the same pairs that transport the Ethernet traffic.
