Fiber access platform
May 19, 2005 12:09 PM
ADVA Optical Networking (Booth #39025) will introduce Release 2.0 of its Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 150 series of access devices for fast, cost-effective rollout of Ethernet services to mass markets. This release of the FSP 150 family improves carrier flexibility, dramatically simplifies service management and reduces TCO in a variety of ways, including:
- A new FSP 150CP customer-demarcation device supports variable data rates
up to and including Gigabit Ethernet, allowing support for including Emulated
Line, Emulated LAN, VPNs and other services and ultimately enabling migration
to tunable-bandwidth services.
- The new FSP 150MG aggregation device's rate-control functionality enables
over-subscription of “bursty,” sub-rated gigabit Ethernet traffic from up to
six customers, ensuring optimal usage of available network bandwidth for
applications such as DSL backhaul.
- The FSP 150 tandem-node-protection capability insulates the core and
access domains of the carrier network. Protection events that occur in either
are handled locally and transparently. This feature cost-effectively delivers
carrier-grade protection for Ethernet services in tree-and-branch or ring
networks without requiring overlay protocols such as Spanning Tree that are
complex to administer.
- Advanced performance monitoring and traffic management enable carriers to
more efficiently maintain SLAs. These traffic-control mechanisms are compliant
with Metro Ethernet Forum standards.
Based on the IEEE802.3ah, Ethernet in the First Mile standard for operations, administration and maintenance, ADVA’s FSP 150 enables the carrier to introduce any voice, data or video service simply, securely and cost-effectively over a shared infrastructure. The FSP 150 family is interoperable with legacy Sonet/SDH and Layer 2/Layer 3 infrastructures.
