ISDN Cross-Connect Multiplexers
Patapsco Communications (booth #86082) has launched the Liberator series, a range of ISDN cross-connect multiplexers or connectivity enabling tools. Ideally suited to vendors offering products internationally, or carriers, large corporations, systems integrators and distributors/resellers, Liberators offers the ultimate in flexibility, enabling users to maximize the use of ISDN BRI and PRI circuits and allowing carriers to span the last mile. There are two systems in the Liberator series: Liberator-S and Liberator-Duo. Multiservice Access Platform

It offers the flexibility and control needed to deliver a full range of circuit- and packet-based applications via fiber or copper infrastructure while migrating their access networks to a simpler and less costly architecture. Ethernet Access Platform
Aktino's (booth #52077) new AK4000 product family enables service providers to deliver 5 to 50 Mb/s Ethernet services throughout the carrier serving area (CSA) over multiple pairs of copper, using copper bonding. Ideal for both business-class access applications and backhaul, the AK4000 can deliver ubiquitous 10 Mb/s Ethernet service on 4 pairs or 25 Mb/s Ethernet service on 8 pairs with a binder full of disturbers throughout the CSA (12,000 ft). Flow-Through Provisioning Enhancement
Wave7 Optics (booth #14058) introduces The Last Mile Sentinel (LMS) 3.2, which increases automation capabilities to create flexible Quality of Service bandwidth packages for data services (in increments of 64 kbps), software upgrades on device discovery, improved flow-through ease of billing with regards to subscriber account and location information and reports to support billing audits. This flow-through provisioning interface has been extended in LMS 3.2 to allow subscriber account information to automatically flow from the billing system to the customer premises devices. Sonet Access System
ADC (booth #20018, #21066, #23018) introduces The LoopStar 810, the newest addition to its family of advanced, next-generation SONET access solutions that allow service providers to cost-effectively deploy and manage TDM and Ethernet services to end-user customers from a single platform. The LoopStar 810 is designed specifically for Customer-Located Equipment applications where service providers can deploy Ethernet business services as well as traditional DS-1 and DS-3 TDM-based services easily and economically. Access Aggregation Switch
Amedia Networks (booth #71049) is unveiling its QoStream AS5000 Aggregation Switch with VDSL line cards at Supercomm 2005. These 8-port line cards allow network operators to provide voice, data and video services (triple play) over existing copper telephone wires and allow for an efficient and economic evolution of their subscribers from fiber-to-the-node to fiber-to-the-premises as demand dictates — without replacing other chaise, fiber or network management elements. IP-DSLAM
Verilink (booth #43025) announces the VSX 4000 Series IP DSLAM, a next generation low-cost, high-density broadband access solution with a 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet uplink. Advantex Workforce Availability allows dispatchers, managers and system administrators to optimally plan, create and adjust work force schedules. Its new, enhanced user interface simplifies viewing of schedule summaries and improves task flows for making recurring day-to-day schedule adjustments. Broadband access tied to income
It's not surprising, but it may prove disturbing that broadband penetration directly tracks household income, according to the Pew Internet and American Family Life Project. The national average for broadband access at home grew from 13% to 25% between 2002 and 2004, and penetration of homes with more than $100,000 a year income hit 55%. By contrast, only 4% of households with income between $10,000 and $20,000 a year had broadband. |
