Global Crossing this week announced three new customers for three different service offerings. Sonus Networks will use Global Crossing's Managed IP VPN service, MT Contact Center Chile is using its voice services and voice-over-IP provider VoX Communications is using its nationwide VoIP service.
"Sonus is using our managed global IP/VPN service to handle its VoIP, VPN and video needs," said Kevin Courteau, director of product marketing management. "We think it's a real testament to what we are doing because they obviously know VoIP, as a leading softswitch company."
VoX is selling VoIP to carriers, such as small cable operators, as well as to business and residential customers.
"They are using our VoIP local services in the 46 metro areas in North America where we operate as a CLEC," Courteau said.
MT Contact Center is using Global Crossing's Direct Dial services to develop an off-shoring business model to provide call center services to international customers reaching into Latin America.
The customer announcements come on the heels of Global Crossing's expansion into Europe with Inbound VoIP Local Services and Carrier VoIP Outbound Service.
The two services are complimentary, offering carriers, resellers, prepaid card operators, enhanced service providers and other VoIP providers with the ability to originate traffic on the PSTN using geographic numbers and to do international call termination. Hellas On Line, a Greek ISP, is the first carrier outbound VoIP customer.
